What is the WannaCry Ransomware?
The WannaCry Ransomware locked up the files on computers of many countries and asked the users for a ransom in exchange for access to their own files. It is also known as WannaCry or WanaCrypt0r 2.0.
Who affected most?
The cyber attacks hit NHS hospitals in London city, FedEx, Telefonica (Spain), Nissan Motor Co (Japan), Deutsche Bahn rail network (German) and more such firms.

Some measures to be taken to prevent WannaCry:
- Apply the patches to the Windows systems recommended by Microsoft Security Bulletin MS17-010
- Maintain updated antivirus software on your computers
- Keep and regularly update an offline database of important files. Backups of data should be maintained on other devices.
- Organizations connecting to the Internet through Enterprise Edge or perimeter network devices should block their SMB ports or disable SMBv1
- Users of Windows XP, Vista, Server 2008, and Server 2003 should get an update to a newer version
