Difference Between voLTE and LTE

  • LTE (Long Term Evolution) = Only Data transmission

    • You just get internet data on the 4G bandwidth. Calling will not be that much faster as compared to voLTE.
    • The quality of the call is reduced when the data is kept on.
    • Practically, you need an external software for video calling like Skype, Whatsapp.
    • The connection time of calls is comparatively slower than LTE.
    • Continuous internet data should be enabled for making free calls. You can’t switch it off.
    • Hence, data and battery are highly drained.
  • VOLTE (Voice Over LTE) = Call + Data Transmission

    • You get internet data as well as calling in the 4G bandwidth. That means you will be able to call in high quality and at much faster rate.
    • There will be no compromise on the call even if you keep data on. The switching of data to call is at the lightening speed.
    • You can directly video call anyone with your own number irrespective of external software like Skype.
    • The connection time of calling is ultra fast. You won’t find delays in the call, lag in calls, and you won’t even find call drops.
    • You can carry out the free calling even when the internet data connection is switched off.
    • Hence, data and battery are not much consumed.
