Reliance Jio has announced Dhan Dhana Dhan offer that gives users 84 days of free and unlimited data and voice calls starting at Rs 309. The new offer will come into effect after April 15, once the deadline to subscribe to Jio Prime membership and free Jio services ends.
Jio Dhan Dhana offer is company's new data plan that offers unlimited data, free voice calls and unlimited access to Jio bouquet of services for 84 days. These plans are available for Prime, non-prime and new Jio subscribers as well.
There are basically two pans: 1GB data and 2GB data plans. This data is for one day.
2. Government: 406 blasts in India during 2016, 118 killed
Over 400 blasts were reported in India last year in which 118 people were killed, the government on Tuesday said. According to data collected by National Security Guard’s National Bomb Data Centre (NBDC), a total of 406 blast incidents (337 Improvised Explosive Device and 69 explosive ordnance) took place in India during 2016, Union Minister Gangaram Ahir said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha. “112 persons were killed and 479 persons were injured in IED blast incidents and six persons were killed and 26 persons were injured in explosive ordnance blasts in India during 2016,” said Ahir, Minister of State for Home Affairs. The NBDC data includes all major as well as minor IED blast incidents in the country, including those which are accidental in nature, he said.
3. Three Pakistani commandos killed in accident off Gujarat coast
Three Pakistani commandos were killed in a freak accident off the Gujarat Coast in the early hours of Monday morning, according to The Hindu.
The Gujarat Coast Guard rushed to the spot after receiving a message of the accident. They rescued two commandos of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency and retrieved three bodies floating in the waters, sources told The Hindu. One Pakistani Commando was reported missing.
4. United Airlines forcefully evicts passenger
United Airlines received a lot flak on social media after it found itself at the centre of a controversy when it forcefully dragged a passenger from one of their flights primarily due to overbooking. The airline said their employees had no choice but to remove the man after he refused to give up his seat on a flight bound for Louisville, Kentucky, from Chicago on Sunday. The airline was apparently trying to accommodate four employees of a partner airline on the flight to Louisville, Kentucky.
5. Petrol pumps to remain shut in some parts of the country every Sunday from May 14: report
A petroleum dealers association with a presence in the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra has decided to shut down petrol pumps every Sunday from May 14 onward, according a report.
The Consortium of India Petroleum Dealers (CIPD)has reportedly taken the decision keeping in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to reduce fuel consumption.
"In line with the Prime Minister's appeal to reduce fuel consumption the CIPD has decided to request its members to declare Sunday as holiday from 14 May 2017," the Business Standard quoted A D Sathyanarayan, President, Consortium of India Petroleum Dealers as saying.
6. US National Security Agency Spying on BJP, Says Wikileaks Report
Global whistleblower agency Wikileaks has claimed that the United States National Security Agency (NSA) is authorised to spy on foreign-based political organizations including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In a report, Wikileaks claimed that apart from BJP, NSA is also spying on Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). The report even claimed that the NSA has hacked into Pakistan's mobile networking systems.
7. Govt to Ask Restaurants to Reduce Portions to Battle Food Wastage
The NDA government is preparing to fix portion sizes of dishes served by star hotels and restaurants, a fortnight after Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern about wastage of food in his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio programme.
As per reports in Hindustan Times, Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, said, “If a person can eat only two prawns, why should he or she be served six? If a person eats two idlis, why serve four! It’s wastage of food and also money people pay for something that they don’t eat.”

As promised, Mr Kapoor returned fire.
9. California Gunman Kills Wife, Self as She Teaches Class; Student Also Dead
A special education teacher and one of her students were fatally shot by her estranged husband when he opened fire with a high-caliber revolver before killing himself in her classroom at a San Bernardino, California, elementary school, police said.
A second student was badly wounded by the gunman, who authorities said had a criminal history that included weapons charges and domestic violence that predated his brief marriage to the slain teacher.
10. India women’s football team beats Hong Kong 2-0 in Asian Cup Qualifiers
After three defeats, the Indian women’s football team notched up a consolation win as it beat Hong Kong 2-0 in their final group match of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers in Pyongyang on Tuesday.
Sasmita Malik (68th) and Ratanbala Devi (70th) scored as India ended their campaign with this lone win and finished the five-team Group B at fourth position with three points.
