The raw reality of birth, breathtaking destinations and candid family moments: Stunning images from the Professional Photography Awards

On Thursday, more than 100 of Victoria's most talented professional photographers gathered for the AIPP Victoria Epson Photography Awards.
And the result? Hundreds of stunning images ranging from magnificent pregnancy snaps and heartwarming births to more candid moments.
The awards are run annually in every state by the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) – the country’s largest photographic membership body and represent the best of the best of professional photography in Australia.
Brunswick photographer Michael Teo pocketed the title of Victoria’s top professional photographer for 2017.
A panel of experts anonymously assessed all category winners' work to determine the overall state winner. Innovation, content, creativity, technical excellence and impact are the key criteria when the images are reassessed.
Here, FEMAIL looks at the best snaps from each category and the emotive photographs recognised and awarded on the night.
BIRTH CATEGORY
Photographer Lacey Barratt made headlines in January after penning a raw post about feeling 'disconnected' after the birth of her fourth biological baby, Lennox, alongside this photograph
One of the most gorgeous images in the birth category was taken by Lacey Barratt, whose favourite part is the 'quiet serenity and soaking in of your baby after the chaos of the labour and birth'
These stunning black and white photographs were taken by Tanya Minotti, who was given a silver award for her collection
