These beautiful sea glass beaches are where you should head, to soothe yourself this summer.
Beach vacations are quite popular with tourists all around the world. Be it for some peaceful lone time, adventurous water activites, or simply sheer love for the landscape, your bucket-list will always have those beaches that you crave to visit.
But why just restrict yourself to regular sand beaches, when you have quirkier manifestations of nature inviting you?
Nature shows it's benevolence when it even turns our discarded waste into natural beauty. So, all the broken bottles, jar or glass pieces, that you had disposed off in the beaches, got smoothened by sea water over time, to form some of the most picturesque sea-glass beaches in the world.
So, this time, get a little more adventurous and plan a trip to these three glass beaches.
Glass beach of Fort Bragg, California
Located in Mackeriicher State Park, three miles north of Fort Bragg, this sea beach was created from dumping garbage for years along the coastline, near the northern part of the town. Today, around 1000 to 1200 tourists visit the glass beach each day in summer. One can find rare 'ruby reds' that are from pre-1967 car tail lights. Some of the sapphire-coloured gemstones can be from old apothecary bottles. But one should avoid collecting stones from the beach to keep from tampering its beauty.
Glass beach of Kauai island, Hawaii
This glass beach was mainly formed out of broken bottles and auto glass, dumped by Swiss Cheese Shoreline on the western end of Kauai. Look for the large tanks of gasoline near Port Allen and you would reach this marvellous beach located at this oldest of the Hawaii islands.
Glass beach on Ussuri Bay, Russia
This dream-like wonder used to be a dump site during the Soviet era with truckloads of broken vodka bottles and cracked porcelain being discarded in the area. As the waves smoothened the sharp edges over the years, this beach metamorphosed itself into a breathtaking tourist attraction. A lot of people now visit this beach on Ussuri Bay, a 30 min drive from the city of Vladivostok in the east.
So, which one of these will be your next travel destination?
