5 Food Habits That Are Ruining Your Face

5 Food Habits That Are Ruining Your Face

Certain food habits rob us from having a healthy skin. These habits result in acne, wrinkles, skin discolouration and many more uncomfortable conditions. This does not mean that you avoid them completely. It is recommended to eat such foods in moderation but it is also a better idea to replace them with healthier alternatives. Check out these 5 unhealthy food habits that are damaging your skin:
  • Too much caffeine

Never drink more than 2 cups of coffee per day. Caffeine is a stimulant that prevents you from having a restful sleep. Lack of sleep equals to skin not being detoxified. As a result, it looks tired and dull. Moreover, caffeine increases adrenaline production which in turn causes stress symptoms. Over indulgence of caffeine is bad for both, your skin and health.
  • Too much salt

Are the dark circles and puffy eyes getting bigger? Blame your salt intake. Experts say that consuming too much sodium can cause facial bloating and puffiness. Moreover, taking iodized salt in high doses can also make your face look tired and increase acne breakouts. Minimize your salt intake and instead opt for whole or potassium-rich foods.
  • Too much sugar

If you resort to saccharine or processed foods a lot, then your body will start showing signs such as painful pimples, wrinkles on forehead, and loose skin. Moreover, sugar makes your skin thin by reducing its elasticity. One must try to avoid sweet and processed foods as much as possible. Sugar provides benefit to the body in any way.
  • Too much dairy products

Dairy can be a part of a healthy diet but too much can also prove to be unhealthy sometimes. Findings have revealed that people who are prone to acne can get blackheads, whiteheads and pimples if they consume a lot of milk. A hormone present in the milk is said to trigger the production of pore-clogging skin cells. If you suffer from hormonal acne, it is best to limit dairy intake.
  • Too much alcohol

Alcohol, if consumed in moderation is great for health. But too much can damage your skin. Heavy drinking can result in dry, dull and wrinkly skin. It also triggers skin issues such as rosacea, acne, psoriasis and eczema. Alcohol also robs your body of vitamin A, which aids in skin repairing. Drink in moderation, one drink for women and two for men is enough for a week.
