Summer is finally here and the sweltering heat is getting unbearable by the day. The extreme rise in temperature is not just affecting our health but it can cause damage to our skin as well. Our face s skin is all the more delicate than the rest and is a part that is always exposed. In order to soothe our face from the harsh heat, we have compiled a list of homemade packs using natural remedies. These will hydrate, refresh and rejuvenate your skin after you come back from a day out in the sun.

Cucumber juice face pack

Cucumber is one of the coolest veggies in the literal sense as it can soothe the skin in the summer with its cooling properties. Often slices of cucumber are used in beauty treatments to prevent dark circles and provide respite to the eyes from strain. However, you can also use its juice to make a cooling face pack for the summer.
Take 3 tablespoons of cucumber juice in a bowl and add a teaspoon of honey in it. Mix it well and apply it on your face and neck. Let the pack dry before you wash it off with water. You will feel your skin is fresh and supple after using this pack.

Aloe vera gel face pack

Aloe vera gel is another soothing ingredient that is perfect for cooling your skin in the summer. It is easily available in the market and can be extracted from the aloe plant also. If you have one at home, cut open the leaf to squeeze out the gel. Now add some drops of honey in it and then apply the pack on your face. Let your skin absorb the gel but because there is honey in it, wash your face after 10 minutes. The result will be smooth skin without sun damage.

Curd is a dairy product but has cooling properties and can be used to make both hair and skin packs. For summer, we have a simple face pack that can be whipped up in minutes. Take curd and add a pinch of turmeric powder in it. Mix the two well and then spread it on your face and neck. Let the pack dry before you wash it off with water. Curd has cooling as well as moisturizing properties. It is also anti-bacterial and prevents acne. Turmeric will add a glow to your complexion.

Applying chilled milk on the face is really refreshing and nourishing as well for the skin. It improves complexion and soothes the skin from within. In order to make a face pack using milk, take half a bowl of milk which isn t boiled and add some honey to it. If you have dry skin, you can use full fat milk and if you have oily skin, opt for skimmed milk. The honey will further nourish your skin. Apply it on your face or if it is too liquid-y, simply splash it on your face. Another good addition is gram flour or besan to milk as it will form a paste. Apply it and let it dry. Avoid the area around the eyes. After that wash off with water and pat dry your skin.

Rosewater face pack

Rosewater is often used as a toner as it helps close pores. You will find several cosmetic companies selling rosewater in spray bottles as it makes for a refreshing face mist that gives your skin an instant boost ridding it of the dullness. Simply spray it on your face or pour some on a cottonball and then wipe your face with it. It will remove the dirt and grime from your face and also soothe the skin.

A drink that can soothe on a hot, sunny day, coconut water is soothing for the skin as well. It is rich in minerals and fades away scars and spots on the skin. Simply splash this water on your face every morning and if you want to let it be on your skin for more time, make a face pack by adding some aloe vera gel in it.
These face packs are easy to make at home and do not have any side-effects as they are made from natural ingredients. However, do a patch test to find out if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. You can use these face packs twice a week.
